Queen Slime
Queen Slime is an early Hardmode boss that can be summoned in the Underground Hallow. She is a large, pink slime creature that bounces around and summons smaller slimes to aid her in battle. Defeating her grants access to powerful equipment and materials.

Core Strategy
High Priority
Queen Slime is faster than most pre-mech bosses and requires good mobility
- 1Build a multi-layer arena with 2-3 platforms
- 2Use wings or double jump accessories for vertical mobility
- 3Focus on clearing minions when they spawn in large numbers
- 4In Phase 2, stay on upper platforms to avoid ground bounces
- 5Use piercing or homing weapons for consistent DPS
Combat Phases
Behavior Patterns
Phase 1: Flying Form
Queen Slime flies around, firing bouncing gel projectiles and occasionally slamming down. She summons Heavenly Slimes to assist her. Focus on dodging her slam attacks while dealing consistent damage.
Phase 2: Bouncing Form (Below 50% HP)
After losing enough health, Queen Slime drops to the ground and begins bouncing aggressively. Her bounces are faster and higher, and she summons more minions. Keep mobile and use platforms to avoid being crushed.
Minion Management
Throughout the fight, Queen Slime spawns Heavenly Slimes and Bouncy Slimes. These can overwhelm you if ignored. Use piercing weapons or AoE attacks to clear them while maintaining damage on the boss.
Queen Slime Movement Techniques
Multi-Layer Platform Rotation
Cycle between 3 platform layers as Queen Slime approaches. She must change direction to follow you, giving free damage windows between transitions.
Phase 2 Aerial Dodge
When Queen Slime bounces, fly above her apex height. She cannot reach you at the peak of your flight. Drop back down after she lands to fire a few shots, then fly again.
Minion Clearing Sweep
Use piercing weapons (Stormbow, Golden Shower, Death Sickle) to sweep horizontally through groups of Heavenly Slimes. Clear them in batches rather than chasing individuals.

Phase 2 CrushHigh
Queen Slime lands directly on you during bouncing phase โ 60 base damage plus contact hits
Stay on upper platforms in Phase 2. Use wings to fly above her bounce apex. Never fight on ground level after 50% HP.
Minion OverwhelmMed
Ignoring Heavenly Slimes lets them stack up and block escape routes
Use piercing weapons (Daedalus Stormbow, Golden Shower) to clear minions while damaging the boss. Kill them before they accumulate.
No WingsMed
Attempting the fight without flight capability โ Phase 2 is nearly impossible to survive on platforms alone
Get wings before this fight. Frozen Wings from Ice Golems or Leaf Wings from the Witch Doctor are the easiest to obtain early Hardmode.
Daytime ExpiryLow
Queen Slime can only be summoned during the day and does not despawn at night, but Gelatin Crystal only works in daytime
Summon early in the day for maximum fight time. The fight itself has no time limit once started.

FAQ
QWhat is the best weapon to beat Queen Slime in Terraria?
Daedalus Stormbow + Holy Arrows is the top pick for Ranger โ the falling stars hit Queen Slime and all her minions at once, dealing massive total DPS. For Melee, grab Shadowflame Knife for safe ranged kiting or Death Sickle for piercing damage. Mages should use Meteor Staff for main DPS and Golden Shower for the Ichor defense debuff. Summoners want Sanguine Staff from Blood Moon fishing โ the bat AI tracks Queen Slime perfectly through both phases.
QHow do you summon Queen Slime in Terraria?
Find a Gelatin Crystal in the Underground Hallow โ it spawns naturally on Pearlstone blocks as a pink crystal formation. Break it to pick it up, then use it from your inventory during the daytime. It only works during the day, so plan accordingly. You need to be in Hardmode for the Underground Hallow to exist.
QWhat does Queen Slime drop in Terraria?
The three main drops are Crystal Assassin Armor (33.33% per piece โ full set gives a dash), Gelatinous Pillion (25% โ mount with infinite flight), and Hook of Dissonance (33.33% โ teleporting grappling hook). The Crystal Assassin dash frees up your Shield of Cthulhu accessory slot. Gelatinous Pillion is one of the best mounts in early Hardmode.
QHow should I build my Queen Slime arena?
Build 3 layers of platforms, each at least 120 blocks wide with 15-20 block vertical gaps. Place Campfires and Heart Lanterns on every layer. The top layer is your Phase 2 escape route โ you need to fly above her bounces. Add a small Honey pool on the bottom layer and Star in a Bottle for Mages. Build near the surface, not underground.
QIs Queen Slime optional in Terraria?
Yes, Queen Slime is completely optional. She is not required for progression to the Mechanical Bosses or any other boss. That said, her drops are genuinely useful โ Crystal Assassin Armor gives a free dash, and Gelatinous Pillion is one of the best early Hardmode mounts. If you can beat her, the rewards are worth it.
QWhat armor should I use for Queen Slime?
Titanium Armor is the best choice across all classes. The Shadow Dodge set bonus lets you avoid one hit every 30 seconds, which is huge during Phase 2 bouncing. Pick the class-matching helmet (Ranged for Ranger, Magic for Mage, etc.). Adamantite Armor works too but the raw defense bonus is less impactful than Shadow Dodge. Summoners can also use Spider Armor for an extra minion slot.
Stats
Defense increases to 24 in Phase 2 (bouncing form)
โน๏ธ Note: Queen Slime has 12 defense while flying and 24 defense while bouncing. Prioritize Phase 1 damage!
