Skeletron
Skeletron is the final pre-Hardmode boss guarding the Dungeon entrance. Summoned by talking to the Old Man at the Dungeon at night. Has a head and two hands โ the hands have high defense and spin attack. Must be defeated before dawn or it becomes nearly invincible.

Behavior Patterns
Phase 1: Hands Active
Two hands swing and swipe at the player independently. Head occasionally lunges. Hands have 14 defense making them tanky.
Phase 2: Head Spinning (Hands Defeated)
After both hands are destroyed the head begins spinning rapidly dealing massive contact damage with 0 defense. This is the DPS window.
Time Limit
Skeletron must be killed before dawn (4:30 AM). At dawn it becomes Dungeon Guardian with 9999 defense and instantly kills on contact.
Hand Priority & Head Spin Dodging
Hand Priority Targeting
Focus one hand at a time. Each hand has 600 HP and 14 defense. Destroying both hands removes the defense bonus and triggers head spinning phase with 0 defense.
Head Spin Dodging
When the head spins, move horizontally along platforms. Jump between layers to avoid the spinning skull. This is both the most dangerous phase and the best DPS window.
Dawn Timer Management
Start the fight as early as possible at night. You must kill Skeletron before 4:30 AM or it transforms into Dungeon Guardian with 9999 defense and instant-kill contact damage.

Minishark is still king โ it outputs consistent DPS while you dodge. Space Gun + Meteor Armor gives mages infinite piercing damage. Starfury works for melee since stars rain down while you focus on movement. The hands have 600 HP each and the head has 4400 HP, so you need sustained DPS over raw burst.
QHow do you summon Skeletron in Terraria?
Talk to the Old Man at the Dungeon entrance at night. He will transform into Skeletron. This only works between 7:30 PM and 4:30 AM. You can also kill the Clothier NPC while wearing a Clothier Voodoo Doll after your first kill โ but do not do this near your base.
