How to Beat The Destroyer: Piercing Damage Mechanics & Daedalus Stormbow Speed Kill
The easiest Mechanical Boss — piercing weapons are the answer
Boss Overview
The easiest Mechanical Boss and the one you should kill first. This massive mechanical worm has 82 segments sharing a single health pool of 80,000 HP (Expert 120,000 / Master 153,000). Sounds like a lot? Piercing weapons hit dozens of segments simultaneously, multiplying your damage by the number of segments hit. Daedalus Stormbow + Holy Arrows sends falling stars through the entire body — fight over in under 2 minutes. Drops Souls of Might (25-40) and Hallowed Bars (15-30), the core materials for Megashark and Hallowed Armor.
Piercing weapons are the only strategy. Single-target DPS against 82 segments is a waste of time. Daedalus Stormbow + Holy Arrows from a sky platform. That's it.
How to Summon
Two ways to summon The Destroyer:

Arena Setup

Sky Platform (100-150 blocks high)
Build a long platform 100-150 blocks above ground, at least 150 blocks wide. This height keeps the head from reaching you.

Campfires (every 40 blocks)
Full regen coverage across the entire platform. Don't leave gaps.

Heart Lanterns
Stacks with Campfire regen. Hang below platforms. Combined regen is substantial.

3×3 Solid Block Shelter
Build a small roofed box in the center. Duck inside during heavy lasers or Probe swarms — full immunity to all ranged attacks.
Piercing Damage Mechanics
The Destroyer has one critical weakness: 82 segments sharing one HP bar. Piercing weapons hit multiple segments simultaneously. What does this mean?
82 SegmentsOne piercing projectile hitting 10 segments = 10x damage. Daedalus Stormbow Holy Arrow stars have infinite piercing — a single star can hit all 82 segments from head to tail. One volley drops 3-4 stars, and the total damage is astronomical. This is why Rangers kill it in 2 minutes — it's not about weapon power, it's about The Destroyer's mechanics being hard-countered by piercing.
Probe System
Every time a segment takes damage, there's a 4% chance it releases a Probe. With piercing weapons hitting dozens of segments per volley, you'll get several Probes per shot.
ProbeHP Phases
The Destroyer has three HP phases with escalating aggression:
Phase 1 — Full Health
The Destroyer tunnels through ground and air to charge at you. Segment lasers fire at normal rate. Probes start spawning from damaged segments. Head contact deals 70 damage (Expert 280).
- Stay on sky platform above the boss
- Rain piercing weapons downward
- Kill Probes as they appear
Phase 2 — Below 50%
Laser fire rate increases noticeably. Probes spawn more frequently per hit. The body starts coiling around you more aggressively from multiple angles.
- Keep moving horizontally to dodge concentrated fire
- Laser density is higher — consider ducking into shelter
- More Probes = more Hearts if you kill them
Phase 3 — Below 25%
Maximum aggression. Dense laser barrages with frequent Probes spawning simultaneously. Head charges become more frequent. Finish it fast.
- Full DPS to close out the fight
- Shelter is your best friend here
- Don't hold potions — this is the final push
Probe Swarm
When piercing weapons hit many segments at once, each hit has a 4% Probe chance. A Stormbow volley can spawn 5-10 Probes simultaneously.
- Immediately switch to Probe cleanup — Megashark or melee
- Each Probe is a potential Heart drop
- Ignoring them = drowning in laser fire
Class Strategies
Ranger
Ranged
Daedalus Stormbow + Holy Arrows / Megashark + Crystal Bullets (Probes)
Titanium Armor (Ranged helmet)- Stand on sky platform and fire Stormbow downward — Holy Arrow stars pierce all 82 segments
- Maximum damage when Destroyer coils below you — stars hit overlapping segments
- Switch to Megashark for Probe cleanup and Heart collection
- Easiest class — Stormbow makes this fight trivial
Melee
Melee
Shadowflame Knife / Death Sickle
Titanium Armor (Melee helmet)- Throw Shadowflame Knives at overlapping segments — bouncing deals multi-hit piercing damage
- Death Sickle projectiles hover in the air, hitting segments as the Destroyer passes through
- Less piercing than Ranged so fights take longer, but completely viable
- Stay on sky platform, focus on dodging head charges
Mage
Magic
Meteor Staff / Golden Shower / Nimbus Rod
Titanium Armor (Magic helmet)- Meteor Staff is the mage Stormbow — falling meteors AoE-hit multiple segments
- Place Nimbus Rod clouds along the Destroyer's path for passive damage
- Golden Shower pierces well, but Ichor debuff is completely ineffective (immune to all debuffs)
- Keep Star in a Bottle and Mana Flower equipped for mana management
Summoner
Summoner
Sanguine Staff / Spider Staff + Cool Whip
Spider Armor- Max Sanguine Bats — tracking AI handles Probe cleanup efficiently
- Spider Staff works well on platforms with back walls, spiders cling to segments
- Focus entirely on dodging head charges and lasers yourself
- Harder — lower total DPS means the longest fight duration
