Corruption
CorruptionGenerates Demon Altars and Shadow Orbs, the "native" evil of the world.
Hardmode Biome Control & World Purification Strategy
After entering Hardmode,Corruption,CrimsonandHallowwill spread rapidly, threatening your carefully built world. Understanding the characteristics of these three invasive biomes is the first step in control.
Generates Demon Altars and Shadow Orbs, the "native" evil of the world.
Generates Crimson Altars and Crimson Hearts, an alternative to Corruption.
Automatically generated when Hardmode begins, the "righteous evil".
Below is how different blocks are affected by biome spread:
The Jungle is made of Mud blocks, which cannot be directly infected. However, when Corruption or Crimson reaches the stone blocks at the Jungle edge, the following chain reaction occurs:
Solution: Dig a barrier at least 4 blocks wide around the Jungle (6 blocks recommended). Use uninfectable blocks like Gray Brick or leave gaps. Complete this work early to prevent permanent Jungle destruction!
Before obtaining the Clentaminator, you can use these methods to slow the spread and buy time.
Immediately after defeating the Wall of Flesh, dig a 4-block-wide isolation barrier around the Jungle. This buys you enough time to prepare the Clentaminator. Remember: prevention is always more resource-efficient than cure!
The Clentaminator is the most powerful biome control tool in the game, capable of rapidly changing biomes over large areas.
Clentaminator
Biome control is an important task that cannot be ignored in Hardmode. Here are key recommendations:
Prevention over cure - dig isolation barriers immediately after Wall of Flesh
Protect Jungle first - Jungle destruction is irreversible
Use Hallow wisely - as a buffer zone to block Corruption/Crimson
Save funds - Clentaminator and solutions require significant gold
Don't wait until the Jungle is infected! The best strategy is to dig isolation barriers immediately after defeating the Wall of Flesh, then focus on defeating Mechanical Bosses to obtain the Clentaminator.
Defeat any Mechanical Boss to make the Steampunker NPC move in, then buy the Clentaminator from her for 2 Platinum Coins. You'll also need to buy Solutions (25 Gold each) as ammo.
Dig 3-block-wide hellevators from the surface to the Underworld at the edges of your base and Jungle. This prevents Corruption, Crimson, and Hallow from crossing. Combine with the Clentaminator and Green Solution to purify already-infected areas.
Green Solution purifies corrupted, crimson, and hallowed blocks back to their original biome. Blue converts to Hallow, Purple to Corruption, and Red to Crimson. Green is the most useful — buy it in bulk from the Steampunker.
Yes, but prevention is far easier than cleanup. The Jungle is especially vulnerable because Corruption and Crimson can convert Jungle mud into dirt. Build isolation barriers around the Jungle early in Hardmode before spread reaches it.
At least 3 blocks wide. Biome spread can jump up to 3 tiles in any direction, so a 3-wide gap stops all spread. You can line the walls with non-corruptible blocks like wood or gray brick for extra safety.
