Soul Farming Guide
Efficient farming for Soul of Light, Night, and Flight
Overview
Souls are essential Hardmode crafting materials dropped by enemies in specific biomes. You'll need hundreds of souls for weapons, keys, and other important items. Efficient farming saves significant time.
Underground Hallow
Dropped by enemies killed in the Underground Hallow. Used for Light Keys, Holy Arrows, and various weapons.
Underground Corruption/Crimson
Dropped by enemies killed in the Underground Corruption or Crimson. Used for Night Keys and dark weapons.
Wyverns (Sky Layer)
Dropped by Wyverns in the sky layer. Essential for crafting wings. Each Wyvern drops 5-10 souls.
Soul of Light
Soul of Light drops from any enemy killed in the Underground Hallow biome. The drop rate is 1/5 (20%), so efficient spawning is key.
- Build your farm at cavern depth in the Hallow biome.
- Use 200+ Pearlstone blocks to ensure the area counts as Underground Hallow.
- Water Candle + Battle Potion dramatically increases spawn rates.
- Use lava traps (thin lava layer) for AFK farming.
- Illuminant Slimes and Enchanted Swords are common soul carriers.
Soul of Night
Soul of Night drops from enemies killed in the Underground Corruption or Crimson. Same 1/5 (20%) drop rate as Soul of Light.
- Build in the Underground Corruption or Crimson at cavern depth.
- Use 200+ Ebonstone/Crimstone blocks to create the biome.
- Cursed Hammers and Crimson Axes are reliable soul sources.
- Same farm design principles as Soul of Light farms work here.
- Consider building both farms nearby for convenience.
Soul of Flight
Soul of Flight drops exclusively from Wyverns, which spawn at sky height (above 800 feet). Each Wyvern drops 5-10 souls.
- Build a long sky platform at or above 800 feet altitude.
- Water Candle + Battle Potion helps Wyvern spawn rate.
- Wyverns are tough — bring your best weapons.
- You only need 20-30 souls for most wing recipes.
- Gravitation Potion can help reach sky height quickly.
AFK Farm Designs
Underground Soul Farm
A multi-purpose farm for both Soul of Light and Night. Build two separate sections with the appropriate biome blocks.
- Dig a 168×94 area at cavern depth
- Line one half with 200+ Pearlstone, other with Ebonstone/Crimstone
- Add thin lava layer (approx 1/4 bucket) on platforms
- Place Water Candles and use Battle Potion
- Stand in the center with a minion or use lava for AFK
Sky Wyvern Farm
Simple platform for farming Wyverns for Soul of Flight.
- Build a long platform (150+ blocks) at 800+ feet
- Place campfires and heart lanterns along the platform
- Use Water Candle + Battle Potion for spawns
- Kill Wyverns as they spawn — they're the only sky enemy that drops souls
Hybrid AFK Farm
Combined underground farm with automatic collection.
- Build the underground farm with dart/spear traps
- Wire traps to a 1-second timer
- Use conveyor belts to collect drops at a central point
- Add actuated blocks for toggling biome type

Efficiency Tips
You need 200+ biome-specific blocks for the area to count as that biome. Use blocks from the biome itself.
Hold a Water Candle while standing near a placed one for maximum spawn rate increase.
Use approximately 1/4 bucket of lava per block for a thin layer that kills enemies but doesn't destroy drops.
Remove player-placed background walls in your farm area — enemies won't spawn against player walls.
Leave at least 3 blocks of vertical space between platforms for enemy spawning.
Equip Lucky Coin while farming souls to earn money simultaneously.
