NPCs Show Up Without a House Now

The most impactful NPC change in 1.4.5: NPCs can now arrive and interact with players even without valid housing.

Homeless NPC Mechanic — When an NPC's spawn condition is met but no valid housing exists, the NPC will still appear in your world. You don't need to build a house before an NPC can show up.
Night Limitation — NPCs without housing retreat to a safe location at night and can't provide their services until they have a proper house. Homeless NPCs also have a Housing dialogue option that explains how to build a valid room for them.

This is a huge deal for new players. Before 1.4.5, you had to figure out housing rules before you could even talk to the Nurse or Merchant. Now they just show up, and the Housing dialogue walks you through building them a room.
