Potion & Buff Preparation Guide

Essential Potions, Buff Stations & Brewing Setup

Potion System Overview

Potions provide temporary but powerful buffs that can dramatically increase your combat effectiveness. Before every boss fight, you should drink a set of potions tailored to your class and the boss you are facing. Combined with buff stations placed in your arena, these effects stack to give you a significant edge.

  • Most potions last 4-8 minutes — more than enough for a boss fight
  • Potions are crafted at a Placed Bottle or Alchemy Table using herbs and other ingredients
  • Alchemy Table (found in Dungeon) has a 1/3 chance to not consume ingredients
  • Buff stations like Campfire and Heart Lantern provide passive bonuses just by standing near them

Brewing Setup

1

Collect Bottled Water — Stand near any body of water with empty Bottles in your inventory. Click the water to fill them. Stock up 50-100 bottles.

2

Set up a Placed Bottle — Place a Bottle on a Table or Workbench surface. This serves as a basic crafting station for all potions.

3

Upgrade to Alchemy Table — Find an Alchemy Table in the Dungeon. It works like a Placed Bottle but has a 33% chance to not consume ingredients — saving you herbs over time.

Summary

1

Always use Ironskin, Regeneration, and Swiftness potions for every boss fight

2

Add class-specific damage potions: Archery for ranger, Magic Power for mage, Summoning for summoner

3

Place Campfire, Heart Lantern, and Honey pool in your arena for passive regen stacking

4

Build a herb garden with Planter Boxes for renewable potion ingredients

5

Find the Alchemy Table in the Dungeon to save 33% of ingredients

6

Stock up on potions before Wall of Flesh — use every buff available for the final Pre-Hardmode boss
