From post-Wall of Flesh to Plantera — your complete Hardmode action plan

First Steps After WoF

You just defeated the Wall of Flesh and the world has changed drastically. Here are your immediate priorities:

Smash AltarsSmash 6-9 Demon Altars with the Pwnhammer to spawn all three new ore tiers in the world.

Get WingsGet Wings ASAP — Farm Ice/Hallowed Mimics or craft Leaf Wings. Flight is the #1 survival upgrade.

Ore ArmorMine new ores and craft Adamantite/Titanium armor as quickly as possible.

The world now has a V-shaped Corruption/Hallow strip. Enemies are much stronger — avoid night exploration early on!

Gear Progression Route

Follow this gear upgrade path for the smoothest progression through Hardmode:

New Ore Armor: Cobalt/Palladium → Mythril/Orichalcum → Adamantite/Titanium. Mine and upgrade progressively.
Hardmode Mimics — Farm Hallowed and Corrupt/Crimson Mimics for Daedalus Stormbow, Dart Rifle, and other key weapons.
Hallowed Armor — Crafted from Hallowed Bars (Mech Boss drops). Major defense upgrade with set bonus.
Post-Mech Weapons — Craft Megashark, Light Discs, Optic Staff, and other powerful weapons from Hallowed Bars + Souls.

Boss Challenge Order

Challenge the Mechanical Bosses in this order for the best success rate:

The Destroyer — Easiest Mech Boss. Weak to piercing weapons like Daedalus Stormbow + Holy Arrows. Build a skybridge arena.
The Twins — Moderate difficulty. Focus Spazmatism first (green eye). Requires good flight and a long arena.
Skeletron Prime — Hardest Mech Boss. Destroy the Laser and Cannon arms first. Requires excellent mobility.
Plantera — Unlocked after all 3 Mech Bosses. Fight in the Underground Jungle in a large arena. Second phase is aggressive!

Recommended order: Destroyer → Twins → Skeletron Prime. Defeat all three before challenging Plantera.

Key Events to Exploit

Take advantage of these events for powerful gear and resources:

Pirate Invasion — Excellent gold farming and rare drops (Cutlass, Discount Card, Lucky Coin). Use a trap arena for easy farming.
Solar Eclipse — Drops rare and powerful weapons (Broken Hero Sword for Terra Blade, Death Sickle). Farm after Mech Bosses.
Blood Moon — Fish during Blood Moons for rare drops. The Drippler Crippler and Blood Tear are useful items.

Pre-Plantera Checklist

Complete this checklist before fighting Plantera:

All 3 Mechanical Bosses defeated and a Plantera Bulb located in the Underground Jungle.

Full Hallowed Armor (or Chlorophyte Armor if you've farmed enough ore).

Strong weapons ready — Megashark, Terra Blade, Golden Shower, Optic Staff, or equivalent.

Large Underground Jungle arena prepared with platforms, campfires, and heart lanterns.

Potions stocked — Ironskin, Regeneration, Swiftness, Lifeforce, Endurance, and plenty of healing potions.
